Focusing on the elimination of systems of work that involve high levels of exposure to gravitational, human and vehicular energy sources.

Implementing Safe Work Procedures for all moderate to extreme risk tasks and working continually to ensure consistent compliance with these procedures.

Encouraging personnel to report all incidents, near misses and hazards to enable analysis of this information so that all practical measures can be taken to prevent recurrence across all projects within the organisation.

Meeting, if not exceeding, all relevant legal requirements including safety laws, regulations, industry standards, codes and statutory licences.

Ensuring that employees who are injured or become ill as a consequence of their work are provided with best practice and expert medical treatment, care and support for their effective rehabilitation and early return to work.

Recruiting and providing training to staff ensure that all staff have the skills and knowledge to do all aspects of their job competently and safety.

Training

Swick is committed to the maintenance of a best practice, industry leading training and development program. Our aim is to provide effective competency based training to both our Operations staff and our support services in order to establish a well trained, skilled and conscientious team with a focus on safety, quality and production. Swick recognizes that our employees are our greatest asset and that helping employees to develop is critical to the achievement of the company's goals.

The Swick Group employs a full time Safety and Training Manager, Induction & Training Officer and several site-based Safety and Training Coordinators all with extensive experience in drilling and mining operations. The Swick Safety and Training Department oversees the career development path of all operational staff.

Swick has developed an award winning state of the art induction and training system incorporating the latest multi-media , interactive and hands on practical training concepts. A purpose built task simulation training centre allows new employees to experience practical training before joining our drilling teams on site.

Swick is partnered with a registered training organization and through this alliance delivers the National Certificate in Mineral Drilling Exploration RII09. Currently Swick is supporting over 100 trainees to complete this formal recognition of their technical drilling skills. Several Supervisors and Managers once started as entry level Offsiders and have now developed the skills required to successfully Operate and manage large and complex projects.

Swick's experienced site-based Safety and Training Coordinators, work in close collaboration with Site Supervisors to ensure that all drilling skills are constantly reviewed and maintained at the highest possible level. Comprehensive Safe Work and Operating procedures are available for all tasks and these procedures are continually reviewed and updated in collaboration with our staff and clients.

In line with continuous improvement strategies a regular training needs analysis is conducted in order to identify staff training needs both in Operational and Support services deprtments.
